CAS: A System Supporting Distributed Web Applications Composed of Collaborating Agents

چکیده
In this paper we describe the Cambridge Collaborative Agent System (CAS). This is a prototype system designed to demonstrate the functionality and basic architecture of a framework for co-ordination between different components (or agents) of distributed ‘Web’ applications. Co-ordination in CAS is achieved through the use of tuple spaces, as used in Linda. However, the access primitives used in CAS are not those used by Linda, but the BONITA primitives, which provide asynchronous access to tuple spaces as opposed to synchronous access. Because CAS is tuple space based it supports temporal and spatial separation of agents. The prototype system supports agents written in either Java (including applets) or C.

متن کاملA review of agent-based modeling (ABM) concepts and some of its main applications in management science
We live in a very complex world where we face complex phenomena such as social norms and new technologies. To deal with such phenomena, social scientists often use reductionism approach where they reduce them to some lower-lever variables and model the relationships among them through a scheme of equations. This approach that is called equation based modeling (EBM) has some basic weaknesses in ...
متن کاملCombining Interface Agents and Situated Agents for Deploying Adaptive Web Applications
A web site presents a graph–like spatial structure composed of pages connected by hyperlinks. This structure may represent an environment in which situated agents associated to visitors of the web site are positioned and moved in order to monitor their navigation. This paper presents a heterogeneous multiagent system supporting the collection of information related to user’s behaviour in a web ...
متن کاملUsing Agent Platforms for Service Composition
Autonomous software agents and semantic web technologies promise to pave the way for really dynamic and adaptive distributed applications. The Agenticities project is the first effort to create a large and open society, where collaborating and competing peers are able to interact effectively. This paper describes the services deployed on the Agentcities network, both at the infrastructure and a...
متن کاملMy Agent Will Call Your Agent... But Will It Respond?
As Web based E-commerce and component software become more real, interest in software agents has increased. Agents can be viewed as specialized distributed components, offering greater flexibility than traditional components when developing certain applications. Different kinds of agents have different amounts of personality, mobility, interaction, collaboration, persistence and intelligence. T...
